Things that really bother me...part 2

Yet another thing that really bothers me(there are many in this strange world).
Christmas.
Christmas is a Christian holiday. It is not about some fat old guy with reindeer racing around the world delivering presents. It is not, oooo presents! It is celebrating the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. And there are random atheists and other people defacing Christmas. It is a religious holiday. Just as I am not celebrating Rosh Hashanah, non-Christians need to remember that Christmas is a Christian celebration.

Yeah! Sure it maaaayyy be fine if you believe in all that fantasy holly stuff when you were 1 or 2 or 3 years old, but we need to gow up some day! There is much more to Christmas than seeing santa claus at the mall or eating cookies while watching christmas tv specials (which I do enjoy by the way). How many people actually think about the word Christ in Christmas?

That's a great point to make, but you have to remember that many other people live in the country too. You are lucky that your religous holidays happen to be a day when everyone is off from work or school. Its not the same for us. Thus, we celebrate Christmas as time to be with friends and family, a time to get together. It's the modern world now, and it has a lot of different meanings from different people.

That's Just My Two Cents.

Plus: Santa Claus came from St. Nicholas, a patron Saint who built small wooden toys for porr children in his church and gave them to children on Christmas day. He is by no means fat, and does not look like how he looks today, but their is some credit to what he's doing. And if you keep claiming holidays, AS YOUR HOLIDAY, then it leads to violence. Anyone can celebrate any holiday for any reason, that's the beauty of religion.

As, said I can celebrate Rosh Hashana if I wish. Notably, it is a time when we repent for the wrongs we've done, and ask for forgiveness. It isn't about the religion always, its about the message. And though I may seem harsh, remember, every blog needs a critic.

I don't celebrate my holidays just based on my religion. There are times on my holidays that I just spend doing what I want or spending time with my family or friends. And I've heard of that story of St. Nicholas. Not fully, but just parts of it. I can understand what you're saying about this.

Christmas is not the only thing that bothers me. Of course i do dislike how non-christians and so called christians seem to celebrate this holiday with no emphesis on the true meaning behind it. The main thing thats on my mind is how much the world needs a change. We need to be reaching out to people beacause thats what God has called us to do. When we do this more people can celebrate holidays like Christmas with the mind that we celabrate this holiday for Jesus Christ's Birth.

thanks for all these comments. I don't have a problem with people celebrating holidays, but I am edgy about non believers celebrating Christmas, they detract from its origins and meaning. I have also heard of the Saint Nicholas story, but that is not what exists in society today. Today we a have big fat guy in a costume as our symbol of Christmas, that's just not right...

I totally agree! I hate how Christmas has turned into Santa and presents...

Yeah, people can celebrate what they want on December 25, just please don't call it Christmas, because modern day depiction of Christmas is degrading.

Sigh...
Yesterday I was asked, "do you believe in Santa?"
I was like, "no...."
Then my friend was like, "But I thought you were Christian?"
Dude! An old fat guy in a red suit isn't a Christian thing!
I was thinking omgoodness, is this what Christmas is to people? I mean, come on, that's insulting!
